We Have A Structure!!!

Hello to ALL,

I know it has been a little while since the last post. Sorry for the delays.

We have a structure!!! PTL!!!

We have a basic structure set up now with a roof. So out of the sun, rain or whatever.

Our AWANA group and other groups can meet there now out of dirrect sunlight or inclement weather. Now we need flooring (cement to lay for the floor) and we need chais or benches for seating.

I will post some photos later.

HMMI and AWANA

It has been a wonderful experience for our children in attendance at HMMI Feeding Program Dumlog. We had two of our volunteers attend an Awana 4 day training seminary in Iloilo a few weeks back. They had a wonderful experience and were challanged by the things they learned.

Last Sunday, they put thier training to use. We hosted a “trial” run of Awana at Dumlog. We did not expect much of a turn out but boy were we surprised. We had 80 children in attendance. So many that we ran out of space in our small meeting center in Dumlog.

We had 10 parent offer to volunteer to be Awana teachers and several asked about an Adult Awana program.

Needless to say, the center in Dumlog will be expanding to accomodate the additional needs. Please keep us and this program in prayer as we make the needed adjustments.

To God Be The Glory in All Things!!!

Children’s Training

Praise the Lord for His goodness!

We have been able to send two of our volunteers to another island for a children’s ministry training seminar. We, HMMI, had been invited to send someone to attend a training program for AWANA.

We are exctied to hear about their training and how we may be able to set up an AWANA children’s/youth program in Dumlog. We have been seeking a curriculum to use to help our teachers in the childrens Bible studies and have had this opportunity opened up to us.

Pray for our workers/volunteers who have been sent to this training and that they will be able to help train others in our group to use this program. Pray for the needed materials to support this curriculum for the children and youth.

May this all be done to glorify and honor the Father through bringing the gospel to the children and youth of the Dumlog and surrounding area. May this open doors of opportunity to bring the gospel to the families of the children who will participate in these programs.

HMMI AMBITIONS and GOALS for the coming year

Greetings to all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May God alone be glorified and honored!

HMMI has recently held our annual planning meeting to discuss the past year and goals for HMMI in the coming year. We are amazed at the things we were able to accomplish in the past year and to see how God has set forth His plan for HMMI.

Now we are excited to see how or what He has planned for HMMI this coming year. We have set some goals for the coming year and to be honest, the human side of me wonders how we will ever be able to find the way to accomplish most of these goals. Yet, the other side of me is excited to see God’s hand move amongst us this year as it has moved in the past and to see how God works at many of these plans.

Are planning includes several areas such as, purchase of property, expansion of the feeding programs, improve the childrens Bible study, complete the center for the church plant in Dumlog, establish livelihood training programs for the local community, establish a Day Care/Preschool, expand our outreach to other communities, plant a second or sister church to Dumlog, vehicles, office equipment needs and the list goes on.

We have a base budget set for these needs. And again the human side of me sees no way of meeting this budget but I trust and know if it is truly God’s plan and His work, He will supply the need and probably in ways we are not even expecting as He has in times past. So pray with us about these concerns/needs/desires of HMMI this coming year.

Friends and Visitors

HMMI would like to thank our friends and visitors who have helped support HMMI through prayer.

We at HMMI trust in the Lord to meet the needs of His people and His ministries. We count prayer as top priority in all things. Prayer and daily immersion in His word. As our ministry verses say in John 6:48-51, “I am the bread of life…the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” (NASB)

We trust in and depend on our “bread of life” to meet our needs daily. And we believe that one of the ways to ensure this is through our petitions and prayers to Him.

So we thank those friends and visitors who share with us in prayer for the ministry of HMMI and it’s ability to reach the people through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word!

I mention prayer as being of utmost importance when it comes to support and stress it more than financial giving for several reasons.

First, I truly believe if it is God’s ministry, He is going to provide the support needed to sustain His ministry.

Second, I would rather stress to our friends and visitors to pray for the ministry first before contributing financially. It is easy for people to come and visit the ministry and the programs we provide and become “emotionally drawn in the moment” and desire to give financial support immediately and once removed from the moment to forget about the ministry.

Emotional giving at the time seems to be the thing the heart has been pricked to do. You see the needs and desire and want to immediately donate or give to meet that need or desire. Yet, you have not once prayed about what God would truly have you to do. God may want you to assist in the ministry of HMMI financially, be it a one time gift or monthly or annually or whatever God may lay upon the heart(s) of His people. But we at HMMI first and foremost desire and want you to Pray to the Lord what He would truly have you to commit to the ministry and not act on the “emotions of the moment”.

We at HMMI realise that any ministry needs support financially, especially starting out. It would be easy for us at HMMI to respond and take the “emotional” gifts. But we desire ministry partners who share in our burden that God has laid before us. We desire your support through prayer.

There are many “charlatans” out there in ministry today. Many who abuse the word of God for their selfish desires and purposes. Many who play upon the heartstrings of God’s people to cause them to give on emotion rather than out of God directed conviction. We at HMMI however are not those people.

If you have not sought the Lord in prayer about supporting HMMI ministries first, please refrain from giving until you have. God’s work will continue if it is truly His work and not that of man. HMMI does need and desire support, don’t get us wrong. However, let God direct your heart, not some emotions that were stirred because of a one time visit. We want visitors, we want hearts stirred to support the ministry of HMMI, but we need partners in prayer and vision.

God will stir the hearts of those He desires to support His ministry. And for that, we will wait. Take it to the Lord in prayer first, make sure it is His burden upon your heart to support HMMI and not some emotional misgivings.

May God Bless all our friends and visitors. May God alone be glorfied and honored through the ministry of HMMI!

Happy Anniversary HMMI

HMMI has just recently celebrated 1 year of registered service under the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission but 3 years of actual ministry.

We have seen many things transpire through HMMI over the past year. Things we had not envisioned to happen as soon as they did and things we did envision or desire have yet to come to be. It just goes to show that God is in control.

We had desire to begin a shelter home for abandon “street” children and battered/abused women and children. This is still our vision but has been delayed due to God leading in other directions first. We may have the vision, but God sets the priorities and direction. We have to be obedient to His leading.

We also envisioned planting a church. We did not necessarily think it would happen as soon as it has though. But again, God is in control and He sets the tone and pace of His ministries. We are excited about the church plant in Dumlog and the things we are seeing God do there for His glory!

With anniversaries comes planning. Pray for us as we hold our annual meeting, planning and budgeting for the coming year. We have several things we are trying to work through and plan for in the coming year.

Some of the things we are working is budgeting for projects( school supplies, scholarship programs, building projects and needs, day care center, feeding program extension and community outreach and livelyhood programs) and many general ministry items that come up…administrative and related things.

Our prayer is that God will continue to use HMMI in the Cebu region and that through this ministry, He alone will be glorified! Pray for HMMI and the ministry needs, God is faithful and He has and will continue to supply the needs of HMMI in His time.

Dumlog Church Plant and DVBS

Greeting to all in the name of our Lord and Savior, may He be glorified and honored in all things!!!

Dumlog is HMMI’s first church plant in Cebu. We are very excited about the goings on with this church plant as we have seen God work many things through that we thought were humanly impossible but as His word says, All things are possible through Him. Amen!

Pray for the workers and volunteers that are working with the church plant in Dumlog. That God would give them the wisdom, discernment and strength to carry out the work He has set before us. Pray for the souls of the people who are now in attendance at Dumlog. We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict souls and that God will draw the people to Him through the Savior, Jesus Christ!

Pray for the center in which the meetings are being held. There are still some improvements and work that needs to be done.

Praise the Lord for the DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) that has just completed at Dumlog. We had over 60 children in attendance!!! Not only were we able to reach out to the children with God’s word but also the parents. We pray that the seeds planted during this DVBS will continue to be watered and grow.

To God Be the Glory!!!

Latest Updates about our Family

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior.

It has been a while since my last post. Many things have been happening in my life and the life of my family that have caused the delays.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 was a very sad day for our family. Hannah Grace Turley was still born at 32 weeks of pregnancy. This was a difficult day in our lives and one we don’t completely understand. By God’s Mercy and Grace, we have managed to get through the initial tough hours and days and to continue on. We don’t question God’s reasoning or plan, but praise Him that His perfect will and plan for us and the life of Hannah Grace has been fulfilled, even though we don’t understand.

Hannah Grace and the difficulties we faced during Joy’s pregnancy have opened up many doors and venues to witness to many. If not for Hannah Grace, these doors may have never been opened so for that we are thankful and trust that this was all part of God’s bigger plan we don’t always get to see in advance.

Hannah Grace Turley was laid to rest in Jeddah, KSA on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 1500 hours. Several close friends were with us during this time.

In memory of Hannah Grace, HMMI is considering starting a “Hannah Grace Educational/Scholarship fund” program. Please pray with us that the Lord would give us the wisdom and guidance needed in the setting up of this fund.

The New Year

Greetings to everyone who follows our site.

We wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.

HMMI is off to a wonderful start in the new year. The first weekend of January, we had a dedication service and launching of the new church plant in Dumlog, Toledo City, Cebu. We had several people in attendance and the community is coming together to help clear the area and build the church.

As church buildings go, this is a very simple structure for now. It is a Nipa style structure made out of bamboo and lumber. We have been blessed through kindness of several groups to help with funds and with several individual donations. Even the children are donating their allowances/monies earned to help build the church.

We ask for your prayers. As with anything we do for the Lord, it seems the adversary is never very happy. The spiritual warfare has begun and we have hit some strong opposition through those whom we consider “Christian brothers and sisters” yet it seems to have spawned some kind of disapproval by some. Pray for them and pray for those whom are in their path of turmoil and trouble making.

Pray for the families in the Dumlog area we are reaching out to and presenting the Gospel to. Pray that the Lord though His Holy Spirit will convict the hearts of the lost and call them to Himself for salvation.

We are also starting our annual project for raising funds to provide school supplies to the school age children in our feeding program. Pray for donations and funds to provide the needed items this year. We have approximately 80 school age children in our feeding program that will require supplies by June 2008.

Pray for one of our volunteers who desires to go back to college and get a degree in Education. She wants to get her degree and be one of our teachers when we get the school up and running.

Pray for our Scholarship recipient who is attending computer repair and building technical school. He has done well in his first year and has a year to go to earn his diploma/certificate in computer repair and troubleshooting.

Again many thanks for our prayer partners in ministry.
